And like Chrome and Firefox, the software maker plans to match and surpass the features available from its competitors with extensions, web notes, tab preview, and more. As Microsoft edge is built-in a browser, it’s not possible to remove this from programs and features windows. We need some advanced work to remove and reinstall the edge browser on windows 10. Let’s start.
Uninstall Microsoft edge browser
- First, close the Edge Web Browser if it’s running
- Now open This PC, Click the View tab
- then check the Hidden items checkbox to see all hidden files and folders.
Now Navigate to the following directory:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages ( Where “C” is the drive where Windows 10 is installed, and UserName is your account name. )
- Here you will see the package Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe.
- Right-click on it and select properties.
- Under General tab > Attributes, uncheck the Read-only check-box.
- click apply.
Now again right-click on package Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe and select Delete then close the window.
Reinstall edge browser
- Open Powershell window as an administrator,
- When the power shell opens type the following command and hit Enter to execute the command.
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}
- This will re-install the Edge browser.
- Once done, Restart your Windows 10 computer
- Now open Edge Browser check its working smoothly without any Error.
