After multiple beta versions lots of testing finally Apple Inc has released iOS 15. And its available for download from Monday 21 September 20, 2021 which was announced at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 7, 2021 as a successor of iOS 14. Latest iOS 15 gets a bunch of new features along with a whole upgrade of all existing iOS Apps. Everything You Need To Know About iOS 15!
iOS 15 is the company’s latest operating system for iPhones and iPads. And its provided to developers in June at WWDC 2021 and now it’s available for all iPhone and iPad users. The tech giant revealed that iOS 15 would be generally available for free download on Monday, alongside iPad OS 15. Like previous updates the latest release iOS 15 also bring number features improvements include a redesigned Home screen, new app gallery or picture in picture mode and much more new interesting features!
On iOS 15 notifications will have a new look, including contact photos and larger app icons to make them easier to identify. Notifications will now be sorted into a deal-with-it later category, and conversations will surface first. To reduce distraction, a notification summary collects notifications together for delivery at an appropriate time and the summary is intelligently ordered by priority, with the most relevant notifications at the top. It’s Customizable too. The look and feel of the overall notification panel has been changed making it a bit more modern.
“Focus” for reducing distractions
With the improvements in notification iOS 15 has also introduced a new feature called Focus Mode. A Focus can filter notifications and Home Screen pages based on what a user wishes to focus on from a list of Focus options like driving, fitness, gaming, mindfulness, reading, etc. or create their own to allow only the notifications you want at a particular time. While using Focus, status is automatically displayed to contacts in Messages and supported third-party communication apps like Slack, so they know not to interrupt.
Spatial Audio and SharePlay in FaceTime calls
Facetime has been majorly improved on iOS 15. Powerful updates to FaceTime audio and video features make calls feel more natural and creative like never before. FaceTime will now have a new feature called Spatial Audio along with SharePlay. Spatial Audio will make people’s voices appear to come from their position on the screen which will make your video chat experience more natural. On the other hand Facetime has also included SharePlay that will deliver a new way for users to share experiences with friends and family while on a FaceTime call, such as listening to songs together, watching a TV show or movie, completing a workout together, or sharing their screen to view apps. And SharePlay almost supports all apps including third-party. Other facetime features include a Grid view for group conversations like we see in zoom call. FaceTime now also comes with Portrait mode however it requires A12 Bionic chip or later. Voice isolation mode: remove background noise during calls, Wide spectrum mode. Calendar integration. Mute alerts, which let users know when they are talking while muted. FaceTime can now take advantage of all rear cameras (on compatible devices). FaceTime calls now extend beyond Apple devices, so people using an Android or Windows device can join from their web browser.
Text recognition in images And Improved Memory, Dictation Features
Live Text is a new feature introduced in iOS 15 that uses on-device intelligence to recognize text in a photo that users can search for, highlight, and copy. Devices with an A12 chip or newer support Live Text in stock apps which can transcribe text from images and photos through Optical character recognition(OCR). Similar to Google Lens, Live Text recognizes text in photos across the entire system including the web, and allows users to take action, such as copy and paste, look up information, and also you are able to translate. iOS 15 delivers the biggest update ever to Memories. With a fresh new look, interactive interface, and integration with Apple Music that uses on-device intelligence to suggest music tracks, new cinematic memories makes it easier to relive favorite or forgotten moments. Formerly limited to 60 seconds, the Voice-To-Text dictation available in the keyboard is unlimited.
Apple Maps Received Several New Features in iOS 15
Apple Maps gets a better upgrade in iOS 15 with more elevation data, road colors and driving directions, rich labels, 3D landmarks and improved night mode. Greater depth has been added to the driving maps with the use of 3D modeling which will make it easier to interpret directions when faced with roads that go over or under the one being driven on, including buildings, bridges and trees. 3D globe with a new color palette and increased mountain, desert, and forest detail. The Maps app also offers a new 3D city-driving experience with road details such as turn lanes, medians, bike lanes, and pedestrian crosswalks, that works both on the iPhone and in Apple CarPlay. Public Transport Info: public transport routes and times with the ability to pin favorite routes to the top. In-app notifications will alert users when they need to get off a bus or train. Walking directions in augmented reality on A12 devices or later which will improve the overall user experience while using maps. iOS 15 upgrade maps has Redesigned place cards, Improved filtering for search and also makes it easier to report map issues.
ID cards in the Wallet app
In a huge development for the world of digital identity, Apple has launched US driver’s license and ID scanning for the Apple Wallet in iOS 15. In short, You can add your driver’s license or state ID to Apple Wallet in iOS 15. Although the prospect of ditching your physical wallet is exciting, the feature is currently only available in select US states. The Wallet app also supports additional types of keys in iOS 15, such as home, office, corporate, or hotel room key cards.
Safari, Weather, and Notes app redesigns
As we know Apple’s new iOS 15 features does include the redesign and upgrade of all existing system applications here are the key improvements in iOS 15. iOS 15 brings a completely redesigned Safari for its users, moving the tab bar and address bar to the bottom of the screen. It now has tab groups, allowing users to organize tabs just like in Google Chrome for Android and share entire groups of tabs. Safari opens with a new start page; it is possible to have a custom page on startup that contains sections including favorites, most frequently visited sites, Siri suggestions, etc. iOS 15 features new Safari privacy protections, including Intelligent Tracking Prevention that prevents trackers from profiling you using your IP address. In iOS 15 Safari will automatically upgrade HTTP URLs to HTTPS if compatible. iOS 15 features a new wallpaper in two modes: light and dark. The Weather App has been completely redesigned and now features more graphical displays for weather data, a full-screen map, and a dynamic layout that changes based on outside weather conditions. Notes in iOS 15 feature user-created tags to conveniently sort and categorize notes in new ways. The new iOS 15 Photos app can now manually set the time and date of a photo. The photos app also allows the user to view information about the photo such as the camera used to take the photo and the photo’s file size. The camera has also been improved in iOS 15 through improvement in panoramic shooting mode on iPhone 12 and above which will click less blurry and clearer images even when capturing moving subjects within the panorama. Notes in iOS 15 feature user-created tags to conveniently sort and categorize notes in new ways. New widgets have been added in iOS 15 features: Mail, Contacts, Game Center, Find My, App Store, Sleep.
